Fuji @ Focus
We are live! The doors are now open at Birmingham's NEC for the 2010 Focus on Imaging Show.
This year promises to be one of the highlights of the photographic calendar. Focus is one of the most highly anticipated and popular consumer and trade photographic shows in Europe attracting in excess of 25,000 people every year.
On stand D10 you'll find all the Fujifilm action- it's one of the biggest stands of the exhibition, so you can't miss us.
We'll be keeping you up to date on the daily activities on the stand (even some pics of the stand being constructed!) via this blog, Twitter (MrFinePix) and FaceBook (Fred FinePix). We're so excited about all the new launches which will be on the stand, all shiny and new!
If you've got any Focus-based questions send them through to focusonfocus@fuji.co.uk or leave a message below and we'll answer them, plus we could ask some of the Fuji Big Cheeses your questions and get direct answers for you, straight from the top (we can't promise to answer everything, but we'll do our best).
Sunday

The FUJIFILM stand at 9:30am on Sunday. The calm before the storm?

Dale, our man at the front, making some last minute preparations
So far a lot of interest has been around the FinePix Real 3D-W1 and the new FinePix HS10. Click for more info on these, and all of our other cameras on display
Afternoon update
Going really well. There seems to be a lot of interest in all things 3D. Lower backs are starting to feel the amount of standing up that's going on. Time for a sneaky chocolate break methinks!

Lucy Edwards, Marketing Manager, talking about the FinePix HS10

A visitor checking out the FinePix F80EXR

Dale Young, Product Support Specialist, talking about the FinePix Real 3D-W1 (free plug for Epson too!)

This is Jeff. Jeff has taken being a camera enthusiast to a new level

And a close up...
The first day draws to an end. It's been a busy day, lots of people meeting our staff and getting their hands on the brand new Spring 2010 range. Looking forward to it all kicking off again tomorrow. Back to the hotel for some food and maybe a beverage or two
Monday
Doors open and a fairly quiet start - at least compared to yesterday!

New day, new batteries

We can confirm that the face detection feature works!

The sudden influx of Tweets is explained by the sighting of Katie's iPhone

By midday the stand is really starting to get busy

A few familair faces. From left to right we have Steve, Chris, Mike and David

Fujifilm are bringing in the big guns. Theo Georghiades, Business Manager, and Adrian Clarke, Director, talking about the new range of FinePix cameras
Monday afternoon

Katie Teesdale, PR Manager, sneaking a quick sarnie in this EXCLUSIVE behind the scene shot of 'out the back' of the Fujifilm stand. How plush!

The 3D Printer that has had a LOT of attention so far

Some visitors checking out the FinePix cameras

This guy from the Photos4u stand forgot his PE kit so they made him work in just his pants!

Graham from Sigma, Natasha from Digital SLR mag and Mike from Photo360 just found out the show finishes at 6, not 5

Rachel from PhotoRadar is ready for her verse of 'Islands in the Stream'

Theo and Stuart from Digital Depot, both temporarily blinded by Stuart's shirt.
Tuesday
Day 3 of Focus is underway!

It was before midday, but the old chant 'shoes on shoes off' was in full effect

Lunch a la focus

Catching up on the stocks and share

One false move and it could be a black out at Focus

So easy to confuse the two!

That would be a hell of a trek Jen. Birmingham is very Central with good infrastructure. Unless you mean hold two shows. One say in York area and then the other in Cardiff.

Might have a tech question for one of your print lab guys too. Getting some odd reds coming through on a Fujifilm DL410, despite working with the correct ICC frontier sRGB profile. Been able to correct it with a custom ICC profile, but not sure why this is happening.

I can't make it, so here's my question, Fuji make some great bodies E.G. 9600 and the S100fs how about making better sensor's and increasing the aperture range, personally i am not bothered about VIDEO , Also why not take some shots with the HS10 at the show and post some full res shots from it.

Just got back home(and taken my shoes off that were killing me all day).
It was great to meet up with some of the other regulars on here - and a couple of old faces no longer on here - also to meet Marc Horner in person (I even got him to do the firmware update on my S5700 which I was too scared to do in case I messed it up - for which I'm much obliged) I'll bet he was glad when we left after listening to our moans!!
We were all really disappointed that Jen didn't join us - we thought she was coming!!
It was a cheap day out - £2 - for a return train ticket from Coventry - + £8 admission earlier (Had to use a £10 note to get a litre of milk when I got off the bus here as I'd managed to get my tickets using change) The things I had thought of buying I couldn't get - or were too dear - and I was kindly treated to coffee (Couldn't get Marc to treat us to a meal though!!).
Edit: Marc - you left Graham off the list of names - his back was to the camera - in green!!
Dave!!

Just got back. Good day all round, and nice to finally put voices and pics to real people. What I could do with now, is a right nice glass of wine and a cookie (hint) LOL
Good to finally meet and chat with Marc, Katie and Lucy of the myfinepix team. Was shocked to discover that the myfinepix site development has been stopped, due to the launch of the new MyFineBookTweetBlogDigiSpacePix.co.uk site ..... ..........(Joking lol)
Just a couple of quick snaps, as I didn't really get the cam out much.
Steve and some other guy checking out the back of the HS10, that seems to be being stuck in the back of Lucy's head.
Marc wondering what David is going to pull out of his bag next LOL
Think Marc was thinking about food at this point LOL

Shame Michael, it was a good day.
Got to admit, I wasn't convinced by the concept of the 3D camera, until seeing it for myself. Though I can't see it taking over as a main stream format, it does have a place in the market as a novelty IMHO
If your wondering how it works with prints, it's just like those 3D pictures, where you move them about to see the full 3D effect or motion. Same plastic ribbed finish to them, and a very similar effect too. Zoom on the HS10 from 28mm to 720mm is a must see for your self thing. Will be nice to see some full res images from it, once fully on the market, just to see how it handles both ends of the lens focal lengths. If the clarity is good across the range, I can see it being a market leader, as a versatile bit of kit for the people looking for a compact bridge camera. I expected it being physically bigger than the 200EXR, but it is in fact smaller.

Hi Peeps
Just got back to North Wales myself after seeing Dave Twitty onto his train.
Nice to meet all you guys in the flesh. A very busy day.
I was a bit chuffed to actually meet Dave Lee Travis and have a chat with him for a few minutes. No photo though, I thought it better not to impose on him too much.
More famous than him though was, Chris Hodgson!!! Great to meet a bloke I have spoken to so many times over the phone, his lad Kieran (I hope I have spelt that right)too, about the politest young chap I met for a long time. It must have been a long day for him too, no complaints, (well not that I heard).
Almost as famous, Dave Twitty. Full of conversation, although not in the best of health, he did bother to go. An interesting guy, I think I now know his life story by now. (he told me three times!!!) only joking Dave as no doubt you will have guessed.
My little legs tell me I have had a hard day but it was well worth it.
Cheers for now

From her, it's not even in the same country, nor yet in the middle of the United Kingdom! I admit Hexham might not be the best of places for an exhibition, though? Glad you enjoyed yourselves, and it's good to see so many pretty faces - not!

Looks as though you all had a good 'but tiring' day. Steve your thoughts on the HS10, getting one or sticking with your own camera for now.
Pity they cant load some full res shots taken with one.
I'd rather shoot, than be shot.
Reply to comment
One they had was a pre-production model Paul. It's not much bigger than the S8000 physically, except for the lens. As a compact bridge camera, I don't think you can go wrong. But Steve said something, that made sense to me. He's now used to handling a larger camera with the 200EXR, so it would feel odd going down in size to upgrade.
PS: As for the S6 Pro...........Ooooooo errrrrrrrr Word on it is so top secret, when we asked about it, someone called security PMSL
