Art as Therapy

An ordinary street

It has occured to me that a sign of a good photopgrapher is not the camera he/she has, but how they see the world and their ability to show the rest what they see. A good photopgrapher will see beauty in the most ordinary of things and places and this is something I need to learn to do...

This is something that comes naturally to children, but with some people, over the years, the ability to see beauty in every day life is lost. There is no more magic and I find myself walking along the same streets every day in a grey haze of depression and yesterday, something just clicked... my camera!

I saw the fort, like I have never seen it before, against the blue sky overgrown with green moss, not like that mediocre building that sometimes turns into a club where I can drink my worries away.

I saw the lighthouse, well, I have never really even noticed it before!... It's kinda hidden behind th fort.

And this is just the beginning of a long path of soul healing that I hope my camera will help me along. Move aside Prozac!

Fair comment, but why not add a few more pics to give us something to judge the statement by.

Look in the beginners forum for how to put a blog together with multiple shots.

Hi Inna

A great start. Good (very) shots and just the right amount of narration for the shots you have put in.

Great fun for both the author and other members who bother to read it.

Thanks for going to the bother of putting it together and publishing.

Nice one

Steve (not qualified to give stars)

Much better Inna, thanks for taking the time to put this together, never easy when you're new to something.

Like the different selection of images, one more cc; where were they taken?

Good start

Thank you very much Ian! I found a very easy explanation of how to add photos into the post on this website Smile Thanks for the tip!

The first photograph was taken in London Soho, just wanted a depressing imagery Smile And the rest are New Brighton on the Wirral.

Great pics and great attitude! You're right of course, and the great joy (for me) of carrying a camera is that it makes you look at the world around you in a more attentive and creative way... Shiny cameras are nice - but a 'good eye' is better.... I like your eye!

Hope we shall see more from you in due course.
