Opening RAW files from Fuji S3 & Nikon D300

I do not normally use RAW files but would like to experiment. I have an S3 and a D300, is it possible to upload and manipulate files from these cameras without any special kit, I only have Elements 6. Advice would be appreciated, Alan

For the S3 yes it is definitely possible to process the raws in PE6. As to the D300, that would depend if the version of Adobe camera raw in your version of elements supports them. You need to go to the Adobe website and look for th downloads of Adobe Camera Raw then get the newest version that is available for PSE6. It should be version 4.6 or 7 ish. Version 5 won't work but they have a list of cameras that the various versions are compatible with so you can find out before downloading. Your camera will have come with some software as well but apparently it's quite basic.

Hi guys, huge thankyou both for your time and knowhow. Will investigate pm today and post my findings. As stated I have never used RAW of any sort so this is a new venture although I have been using digital now for 6 years. "Old dog - New tricks", comes to mind. Thanx again Alan

Hi Mark

Tried to download http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402444.html#CR4.6 to my laptop but no go.

Must be doing something wrong or just not doing something.

Will try again later in day.

Mark, Brilliant, I have been out and about this morning, but have now followed the suggested link and IT WORKS, thanx so much for your help. I have often wondered what extra "powers" RAW would give me and now I can find out. The D300 has a duo mode so I will try that first then experiment with the S3s tonal range. Again I do appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Regards Alan
